Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 2002 Mitsubishi Galant A/C and Blower, mitsubishi galant, wire coils

Question
Hello... Thank you for providing this service... My daughter complained about no A/C in her 2002 Galant ES.  I found that the blower would not come on.  The 30A fuse to the blower was blown.  I pulled the blower an found it full of insulation.  Reintalled blower and it only runs on 4th of four settings.  Confirmed that there is no voltage to blower except on setting No.4... All others are zero volts on leads to motor.  Pulled control switch from dash panel and verified that switch is working by checking continuity between 12V supply stab and other stabs on back of switch.  Each setting switches to a different stab.  Tried to run air-conditioning on 4th blower setting, but the compressor does not run.  The compressor does run on 1, 2, and 3 blower settings, but no blower.  I'd appreciate any help... Thank you... Art

Answer
You need a BLOWER FAN RESISTOR BOARD. It is a small unit that will almost fit into your hand and has 2 or 3 wire coils mounted on a fibre or plastic board and is usually mounted near the blower motor.

This unit gives you your lower blower motor settings.
