Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: coolant leak near the heater at firewall, skylark 3, coolant lines

Question
at where two coolant lines enter the fire wall engine compartment side there is a short outlet with a rubber elbow attached and all my collant is draining as fast as can add the coolant what is this for?  can i attach something to this to stop the leaking or is this a safety feature for excessive pressure. The car is a 1998 buick skylark 3.1 litre engine.

Answer
Are you referring to an anti-freeze leak from this small rubber hose ?.

If you ARE, This is an indication that your heater core has a hole init. However check the hose clamps where the coolant lines enter the fire wall engine compartment side just to make sure they are TIGHT. If they are TIGHT and you still have anti-freeze leaking out of the hose at the hose the heater core needs to be replaced.
