Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: ventalation, vacuum lines, vacuum line

Hey hope you can help me. I have a 92 olds regall 88 all of a suden the ventalation will not switch from any thing but defrost I have air coming out the floor and the defrost but no mater what I hit it wont change. I am trying to get it to come out of the main vents in the middle. I thought there might be a vacume for this and if so where Thanks for any help. Dave

You either have a broken vacuum line that comes off of the vacuum lines on the engine, Goes thru the firewall and into the programmer that is most likely broken or pinched shut.

Look under the hood at the firewall for any vacuum rubber hoses ar any small balck plastic vacuum lines that might even be hidden within the wiring hranesses for any signs of breakage or weakness and replace any suspect hoses.

A lot of times a soft spongy feeling vacuum line will look perfectly OK until you start the engine and then due to it being soft will suck flat when vacuum is applied thru it.

If you cannot find any vacuum problems you may have a MODE DOOR problem of which will require expertise in testing.
