Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: A/C 1998 Ford Contour, ford contour, destination park

My problem is that my A/C works when it wants to not when I want it to work. Sometimes when I turn it on it works great and continues to work. then when I get to my destination park for awhile come back start the car turn on A/C it does not work no cold air. Then after driving a while I get cold air then it goes away. Other days it works all day maybe even two days in a row then it goes back to working when it wants to.

This friday I left the car with a place that only does A/C work they checked everything possible could not find any malfunction they don't know what the problem may be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated since this guy said I may need to put in a complete new A/C system well over a thousand dollars.

Is NUTS and has NO clue as to what he is doing.

I suggest that you find another A/C facility as there are numerous possibilities that can cause this condition and to try and list and explain them ALL would take many hours of typing.

have another facility do some diagnostics.
