Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 2000 Ford Taurus AC does not blow cold, ford taurus, autohelp

Question
Thank you very much. As for freon, yes, the mechanic filled it up anyway even he did not find any leak.
So you think it is likely an electrical/electronic problem rather than a mechanical one (suce as compressor)?
Thanks again.

Question -
Just bought this 2000 Taurus and found out that AC blows ambient air, not cold air. Had mechanic dye check for leak and found none. Checked fuse and it is good. When turn temp control to AC, I do not hear or feel any engagement of the AC (I can feel my other car engine load increase when AC is turned on).  Any idea what is wrong?
Answer -
Could be any number of sensors that have a fault. Could be a wiring problem in any one or more of the A/C electrical system. Could be a fault in the CONTROL PANEL or the heater-A/C control unit.

Are you ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that you have enough freon in the A/C system ?.

This is going to require extensive testing.

Answer
IF the system is FULL of freon, I would suspect that the LOW PRESSURE sensor is faulty of which will NOT let the compressor engage.

I have also seen the POWER STEERING PRESSURE SWITCH fail of which will also cause the compressor NOT to engage.
