Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: auto A/C repair, advanced auto parts, wear gloves

Question
I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota which has a leak in my a/c system. I think I know where the leak is because when I remove the low pressure valve cover, I can see bubbles,(bright green color) and I can hear the leaking sound. I was told from Advanced Auto parts that I could remove and replace the core inside the low pressure valve myself.
They sold me a core and the removal/replacement tool, but my concern was getting air in the system. They said as long as the pressure is pushing out air won't come into the system. Is this true, I would feel better doing it with an expert's opinion. Thank you for your time.

Answer
This CAN be done in this manner. HOWEVER, You will STILL have quite a bit of pressure in the line even though the A/C is NOT running.

Be VERY VERY VERY careful and wear gloves and eye protection when doing this DANGEROUS replacement as freon can cause SEVERE freezing of the fingers and will cause permanent eye injury.

Your looking at THREE TIMES the amount of pressure that is in a car tire if you try and replace the same fitting in a tire valve stem.
