Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: air flow to center vent, buick park ave, center vent

I have a 1996 Buick park ave.I am not able to get the center air vent to open .The floor vent works the window vent works;but when I put on the center Vent I can here the fan but it does not direct the air out of vent.

Are you getting the correct air flow to every other vents in all other air delivery selections ?. Floor, defrost, Recirculation, etc. Do you have most of your air delivery going to the DEFROSTER vents especially on heavy acceleration or when climbing a steep grade ?.


There are SO MANY possibilities that it is impossible to make an accurate diagnosis without a vacuum diagram in order to perfrom the vacuum tests that anything else would be just a guess.

Here are the could be's:


1. faulty vacuum actuator for the cenetr vent doors.

2. broken, loose vacuum line for the cenetr vent doors.

3. faulty multi-port vacuum port in the control head.

4. faulty programmer.

an accurate diagnosis, Other than guessing, Depends upon the outcome of the vacuum tests of which you will need a VACUUM SCHEMATIC to look at.
