Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Fan in Heater/AC, hamster wheel, squirrel cage

Question
I have a 1998 Buick Regal LS
When I put the fan on for the heater/AC
it has started to make a screeching noise
Is this a belt, or the motor itself?
I am retired on a fixed income , so if possible
I would like to fix it myself.
Of course if its a major repair that will be different.
Also the best way to get to it.

       THANKYOU   Ernest

Answer
This sounds like a typical blower fan motor problem and it will need to be replaced. It is a very simple thing to replace it.

There are onlt 2 wires and a small rubber tube and 6 or 7 little screws that you remove in order to remove it and install a new one.

Most auto parts stores have these blower motors of which will also come with the blower motor FAN that looks like a squirrel cage or a hamster wheel.

Go buy a new blower motor and then you will see what it looks like soyou can find and replace yours.

IF you have a camera and can e-mail pictures of your blower motor as it appears in your vehicle, E-mail them to me at:

and I will indicate and put a MARK of what you need to remove in order to get yours out of your vehicle.
