Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Chevrolet Blazer Heater, car repair facility, factory service manuals

Question
Recently my heater has stopped working.  The fan blows out nothing but cold air.  The most recent repair done was replacing the transmission fluid (by a lube place) and replacing the brake pads (done personally).

The vehicle is a 1998 Chevy Blazer 4 door 4x4.

Is there anything i can do or should i just take it to a professional?

I do not know how to do many repairs to my vehicle but I would like to learn as much as possible to keep repair bills down.  I noticed in one of your comments you don't like chilton books which are the only ones i have seen. I was wondering if there are any books you know of that would help me  better understand how my vehicle works and how to repair it. Thank you for taking the time to answer mine and everyone else's questions.

Answer
You are RIGHT on the Chilton Books. About the ONLY use I would have for this generic form of mis-information is for the outhouse.

If you plan on working on and maintaining your own vehicles, Like I have been doing for many many years, Every time I purchase a new or fairly new vehicle I order a FULL SET of Original Factory Service Manuals which are EXACTLY the same books that the dealers get every year.

These books are NOT cheap but ONE visit to a car repair facility pays for the books.

ALL the books for your vehicle would run about $250.00, But they are well worth the money.
