Question -
I HAVE A 1996 DODGE PICK-UP DAKOTA 3.9L THE COMPRESSER IS MAKING A NOISE WHEN I FIRST START IT AFTER I GET ON THE ROAD IT STOP.IT MAKES THIS NOISE EVERY TIME I TAKE OFF.
Answer -
Does this noise ONLY appear when the compressor is ENGAGED or does it appear ALL the time.

If it apperas ONLY when the compressor is engaged, Then you most likely have an internal compressor fault.

If the noise appears when the compressor is OFF, Then this would most likely be the MAGNETIC CLUTCH and HUB that is attached to the FRONT of the compressor.

Let me know
      ONLY WHEN ENGAGED

Answer
Most likely an internal compressor failure, Usually caused by a previous LEAK in the system and ONLY FREON was installed.

Thus causing a lack of refrigerant oil within the system that has now led to compressor failure.

You CANNOT just go buy a compressor and install it.

There are SPECIFIC procedures that MUST be done BEFORE you install a new compressor.
