Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: air conditioner climate controll smell of vinager, charcoal canister, vinager

Question
I had some work done to my fuel injectors
since they did the work when I start my car up
I get a strong oder of vinager type smell
comming from the air vents. I think that they used a injector cleaner and now it is in the system.  How do I get rid of this smell. I talked to the dealer and they said it does have an evaporator canister that may need to be replaced
is this a charcoal canister like the fuel
system one and where is it and can I do this
myself without getting into the air conditioner
system is it outside the system. Do you have any other ideas what this might be. 1992 Cadilac Devile.

Answer
The smell usually goes away after a week or two. Yes, You can change the charcoal canister yourself. Buy a new one so you know what to look for in order to find the one on your vehicle.

Personally, I think it is a waste of money replacing it.

You could spray some LYSOL spray into the air intake vents located on the OUTSIDE of the windshield. This intake vent looks lik a row or speed bumps.
