Hello: My daughters 2002 Olds Alero "security" idiot light is coming on. Can you tell me why this light should come on.
I put in a new battery a few days ago, this probably had nothing to do with the idiot light coming on, but seemed to fix it for awhile.
Any ideas ????

You replaced the car's battery because the security light was ON ?
Please elaborate more on this problem and what is the past repair history on the vehicle ?.
Also, What was the last repair done on the vehicle ?.

I had to replace the battery because it was weak,,,I had it tested at the local auto store,,,their testing said it was bad..
As for service to the car,,nothing on the engine. Only tires, wheel bearings
AnswerI wish I could give you an exact cause of why the light is ON, But there are just to many possibilities as to what makes it illuminate. You will have to have your local dealership's service department perform the necessary diagnostic procedures to determine the cause.
