Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: heater not blowing hot enough, radiator cap, autohelp


Question
I,ve got a 1987 dodge d-150,3.7 liter,I've disconected the air,replaced the thermostat-195,
waterpump works good,took out heater inlet hose-vaccum baffle,----straight shot now,temp guage works,just doest get hot enough.Other than a complete system flush,do you know what reading I should get on an ohm meter on the sending unit,I may have overlooked something else! almost forgot,ive also checked the flap-door up inside under the dash,any ideas??   thank you,tom.

The radiator is one of the most overlooked items within the cooling system.

The internal passage channels within the radiator become restricted due to contaminates as well as the channels collapsing and restricting coolant flow due to the age of the radiator.

Just because you can see a couple of the top channels flowing coolant when you fill the radiator with coolant, does not mean that the middle and lower channels are NOT restricted.

I STRONGLY recommend REPLACING the radiator with a NEW one. I di NOT say to have your radiator cleaned and or flushed, I said purchase a NEW radiator and don't forget to install a NEW thermostat as well as a NEW radiator cap.

Your problem is very common and overlooked quite frequently.

NO, Do NOT go get one out of the junk yard. Buy a NEW one.
