Auto body repair & detailing: crackle

Question
I haven't had a new car in 18 years, until recently when I got a 2014 Nissan Juke. The first 2-3 months or so, no problems. But evidently, as a car 'settles in' the squeaks and rattles start, especially since most of the interior is plastic. It's not a huge deal, but I noticed a crackle type noise and seems to be coming from the passenger side door panel, plastic of course. It's not super loud and not always consistent, but annoying when it does it. Since it's under warranty, if I took it to the dealer how would they fix that? Would they have to replace the whole door panel? It looks to be all one piece. Thanks

Answer
Hi Lee!....Being that I have worked for a Chrysler Dealership for the past 20 plus years, I have definitely had to deal with these issues on a regular basis. In most Dealerships, they are commonly referred to as a BSR complaint. "Buzz, Squeak, Rattle". In a case such as your's, and being under warranty, I would suggest that you drop off your vehicle to your local Nissan Dealership, and explain your concern. From there, a Technician will/should take it on a road test, and confirm your issue. Once confirmed, the technician should be able to pin down the cause. In regards as to how they would fix the problem, there are various sizes and widths of foam tapes, sprays, lubricants, extra clips and retainers, that can be installed to alleviated this issue....Hope this helps you out Lee....Please drop me another line if you have any other questions....Thanks....Dave
