Auto body repair & detailing: Removal of Super Glue, toyota passo, vehicle paint

Question
Hi,
I have a Toyota Passo 2007 . I was trying to fix my rear camera with a liquid super glue , which by mistake poured downwards making an approx 15 cm long mark with dust particles entraped in it, which looks awful ! How can I remove that super glue from paint without damaging it??
I have tried WD40 anf Hot Soapy Water but doest work !!

Answer
Hi Ali!....Don't feel bad, as I have done the same thing in the past. Unfortunatly, the only way to fix this, is to re-paint. In such a small area as this, you could request a Body Shop to do a "Spot in". It is not the ultimate repair, but will save you money, if this is an issue. The ultimate repair would be a complete refinish of the affected panel or bumper. Super glues consist of harsh chemicals, and if they come in contact with vehicle paint, they start to bite in immediately. Even if the glue is wiped off merely seconds after contact, it will leave a white stain. I would suggest sanding the glue, as one would with a run in the Clear Coat, but because of the "Biting" in effect, you would sand through the clearcoat and into the basecoat before you would get the stain/mark out....Hope this helps you out. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write back....Thanks....Dave
