Auto body repair & detailing: front facia, buick riviera, front facia

Question
the front fascia of my 97 Buick Riviera is sagging. I am keeping this car as a collector and only has 35,000 miles. Is this a common problem with this model year, or is there something broken supporting the fascia ?

Answer
Hi Bob!....To my knowledge, it is not a common problem with this model or year....In some instances, when a vehicle is subjected to excessive amounts of heat, such as in the summer sun, over time, a bumper cover can sometimes become distorted to some extent....I am wondering if this is what you are referring to....As far as something being broken causing sagging, this is possible, but I would suspect that this would be the result of a collision....Also, if the bumper cushion is attatched to the bumper re-bar, and has come loose, this can sometimes cause some slight sagging....Unfortunatly, you would need to at least partially remove the fascia, in order to see if either has occurred....What you can do, is check to see that all of the clips/bolts/screws that are visible are still installed, and the gaps surrounding the fascia are even....Hope this does help you out...Drop me another line if you have any further concerns....Thanks....Dave
