I recently hit a curb with my front right wheel with my 2005 VW Golf. The wheel liner fell off and I brought it into a dealership to see what repairs it might need. After looking at it and performing a wheel alignment, they asked if I would like to have the wheel liner replaced for $300 and the sway bushings lubed for $150 to stop a creaking noise. Are these unreasonably prices and do I/should I have them done?

I am a new teacher and strapped for cash and time so your advice is GREATLY appreciated!

Well,up here in Canada , Vancouver, B.C., a wheel liner for an 05 Golf costs 59.48 plus installation and taxes. Installation should cost about $60.00. $ 150.00 for a lube job is robbery. I suggest you do not get it done at this point. Your car will be fine without a wheel liner. Be sure you don't have any pieces of it hanging down to cause weird noises. Shop around, and avoid the dealerships.
