QUESTION: Thanks Bob. I semi truck moved into my lane without seeing me. His tires rubbed acoss both doors of my car as I avoided a major accident. The truck tires left a thick black streak that I hope I can clean.

Answer
Rick,

I would first try a tar remover, such as Tarminator from Stoner.

You can spray the area directly and let it soak for about a minute. Wearing nitrile gloves. take a rag, something soft and saturate it with the tar cleaner and start rubbing the marks. Make sure you keep the rag wet to avoid further scratching of the clearcoat finish.

If you have left over marks that don't come off , I would use Goof Off to remove the remaining marks. Use a good polish to remove any residue and wax the area. Make sure you do this with good ventalation.

There is a good possibilty that there will be some scratching in the clearcoat. You can try the polish to see if you can remove them or seek out the expertise of a body shop or professional detailer and have them wet sand the scratches out.
