Recently did a couple of question with Mr. Forster on repairing a deep scratch on the finish of my new JD tractor.I see he is unable to accept questions right now, hope you don't mind me following up with you. I am finished with the repair and paint.Used JD Green knocker can spray enamel from the dealer. I have had almost no body/paint experience. I am pleasantly surprised with finish. It is glossy, smooth, and a wonderful color match, all that I could hope for...........now for the thing that I don't like. Where I taped it off, there is a ridge at the tape lines. This the only thing keeping it from looking great, in my opinion. How do I work that down and blend it into surrounding areas? Thanks, so much Terry

Answer
terry, i will try to walk you through a simple paint repair problem.the lines were caused by painting up to the masking tape and not pulling tape off immediately after spraying was done, now you have a hard line. you can try to sand the line with 600-1000 wet or dry paper and water and a soft rubber block to level down the high edge.when smooth stop sanding and get out the liquid polish and machine to buff back the gloss. you didn't say if you painted to the edge of the panel or did a spot repair between edges[blend]. use a commercial auto body grade polish like DUPONT 1500s or PRESTA 1500.Best wishes Bill Tuma
