QuestionHello,I have a few small rust hole's in the middle of my darts roof and have very carefully wire wheel'd without heating the metal and rust treated.How do i fill these holes as the car is not going to have a vinyl roof put back on.I,m a bit worried about touching it with the mig.Thank you in advance.
AnswerHi John,, Being that the rust holes are in the middle of the roof I do not blame you for not wanting to use the mig. With that being said it is the best way to do the repair but do not dispair there is a great alternative that will hold up and not give you any grief down the road.
I would recommend cutting out the rust holes completely ,form your metal patches. Install the patches from the underside using a 3M metal to metal bonding adhesive. follow their instructions exact.It is a 2 part system and you may have to purchase their gun and mixing tubes.
It will be easier for you to have the headliner out to work the underside. You will find that there is fast and slow set up times with the bonding adhesive so pick the one you are comfortable with..You will then be able to finish up with fillers and primer.
