QUESTION: hello
i was wondering how long you should wait between base coat and clear coat painting.

ANSWER: Hi Jon,

It's best to wait at least 1 hour between the last coat of base and the clear. Most all base-coats need to be clear-coated within 24 hours maximum.

QUESTION: i was wondering if you could tell me why all the paint stores here,,lajunta co,tell me the paint code jkm on my 95 ford f-350,, they said it was a blue, but the truck is green,.why is that?
thanks jon

Answer
Hi Jon,

The code JKM is not the correct code for your truck. The paint stores most likely are using the KM for your code which comes up as a Royal Blue Met. Ford codes will always be 2 characters. Either 2 letters or a letter and number. JK does not show to be a good code either.

I would venture to guess the code your giving is a body style code. On Ford vehicles when you look on the laminated paper tag in the door it has a spot that says Exterior paint colors. I would guess that you have the code listed directly below the word Exterior. This is the body style code. Look directly above the Ext in Exterior. This should be where the correct paint code is. Good luck with it!
