Auto body repair & detailing: SIDE DOOR MOLDINGS, razor blade, glue residue

Question
I have a 2002 GMC SIERRA BLACK. My goal is to black the whole truck out. So my question is "How do i remove the side moldings on the doors. I believe they're applied with 2 sided tape. I don't want to leave any outline from the moldings on the truck. Should i take the truck to a body shop? Can i do it myself with some chemical that body shops use to remove 2 sided tape and then have the truck waxed and polished?

Answer
Jesse, the answer to your question can only be found once you start removing the mouldings, You can clean any glue residue off with acryisol or 3m wax and grease remover, use a plastic razor blade,so that you don't scratch the paint. Then you will need to lightly color sand and buff the area were the mouldings were. Jesse, first look closely at all the mouldings to make sure no one has taped them up and painted around them, If there is any overspray or tape lines then I would recommend that you leave them on. Good Luck Laren
