Auto body repair & detailing: Truck Bed Removal, chevy silverado, model truck

Question
I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500, with an 8ft bed. I'm thinking that I need to replace my fuel pump (the only reason why I think I might need to is because it hesitates when I accelerate) and I've heard taking off the bed is the best way to gain access to it. The problem is, the repair manual I have has nothing in there about taking the bed off, any suggestions?

Answer
Zach, check with a certified mechanic to be sure, but I'm pretty sure you don't need to take the bed off to change your fuel pump on that particular model truck. Sorry Zach cant help you with this one as mechanics are not my specialty. Good Luck  Laren      Zach, today I talked to a mechanic friend of mine and he said it is easier to lift the bed off the truck. You will need to take out all the bed bolts and the filler neck then get some friends to help lift the bed up and use some blocks to hold it up and he said that is easier than dropping the tank. Good Luck Laren
