Auto body repair & detailing: Ford Paint, ford crown victoria, ford paint

Question
I own a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria painted Charcoal grey with a pinstripe. Can the factory applied pinstripe be removed? Not sure if it is a decal or paint.

Answer
Hi Dennis,

The question I believe you're really asking is can it be removed without harming the paint underneath. If it's pinstripe tape and it's not clear-coated over then yes. A hair dryer warming up the stripe as you pull it off should work quite nicely.

If it's painted about the only thing you can do is wet sand it with 1500 grit wet sand paper and try to avoid breaking into the paint underneath very far. If it works you should be able to then buff out the haziness that the 1500 grit leaves. Be careful not to sand through the paint underneath. This could be very costly if you do. Good Luck!
