Auto body repair & detailing: sticky sun roof/ moon roof, gm man, moon roof

Question
I am a tool and die maker for Gm I have some mechanical ability. I am looking for some direction in troubleshoot why my sun/moon roof on my 2005 Monte Carlo is sticking.
The track is well lubed but I have to joggle the switch in order to get it to inch open or closed I am afraid to open it if it dies and i cannot get it shut. Is this a pattern for this model it is the first sun roof i have ever owned

I am not an expert on sunroofs, although, I have worked on many of them. All I can do is guess at this one. It sounds to me like the sunroof is either out of alignment or the motor is weak. Did you try to open it while iced up or froze? I have been a GM man all my life and I can't believe they don't use better motors for their electronics.
Good luck and let me know what you find out, I'm always needing to learn more. Even after almost forty years of this, I still don't know it all.
