Auto body repair & detailing: Honda civic 2008, invasive operation, luck david

Question
I was recently in an accident where i was hit from behind.  6,000 worth if damage and the car is not more then 10 days old. My question is that they want to replace all the damage parts - except the floor panel. They say it is fixable.  Do you agree? I want it replaced - but, they said it can be fixed.

Answer
Hi,
First of all, my answers will be based on not seeing the cars damage and will be based on the way you asked the question only. I am sorry this happened to you and am certain your car will be fine after repairs. As for the floor not being replaced; trusting it is repairable, it should be repaired and not replaced. A floor is considered a structural part of the car. The frame rails are welded to it as well as the outer panels. It is not recommended to change a floor panel section unless it really needs it. If your car is new and the damage is as you say about 6K, your floor is probably not in need of replacement. a floor replacement is a very invasive operation and is avoided in most cases. If you are comfortable with the shop and the insurance company making these decisions, I would be good with that. Your warranty should be a lifetime written warranty. If the insurance company recommended the shop; they back the warranty. You are most likely in good hands. After the repair is completed; take the car to a 3rd party ie: a dealer,(another dealer if it is at the dealer bodyshop) and have them put the car up on a lift and give a final inspection. This will determine all is well and put your mind at ease. It will all be okay! Good Luck, David
