Auto body repair & detailing: Dodge 1500 Ram Fender (bender), dodge ram 1500, fender bender

Question
I rearended a car last week causing damage to the bumper and right hand fender and headlight of my Dodge Ram 1500 2007 truck.  I decided to repair the damaged areas and with some parts from the local junk yard was able to put on a new bumper and fender.  The question is... My fender seems to be very close to the hood (almost touching) up by the cowel. Is there an adjustment for this?  I suppose the fender frame could be bent a couple of milimeters. Is there a quick fix for this?

Answer
Rob, without seeing the car, it is possible the core support is pushed back a little. You may want to cross measure the inner aprons to the core support. Also, you could have a bent bracket on the inside of the fender or windshield pillar post. I cant tell. I recommend a quick drive to a bodyshop and ask for a techs opinion in person. Most shops are good about helping a "nice and friendly" do-it yourself person. They will tell you minutes a possible solution or even adjust for you for a very small fee. Hope this helps Rob, it is very difficult as I say to determine exact issue without being there. Hope all goes well. I am certain you will resolve using the advice I shared. Thanks Rob! Have a great day. David
