Auto body repair & detailing: Bumper replacement, dodge grand caravan, 2005 dodge grand caravan

What should the labor/materials cost be (approx) to paint and install a rear bumper cover for a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan?  The part is $275.00 and I was quoted $800 including the part.  Then when I said I had the part, they dropped to $400.  Instructions say it is 6 screws and 4 clips.  So if you allw an hour for install that would make the painting protion about $300.  Does that sound reasonable. (Richmond, VA)

If they are blend painting the quarters, it is a good price. If they are just painting the bumper, no, it is a little high. Paint labor and materials should be about $250.00 for a standard color. Does your van have a tri-color? if so, that's why the cost is so high. A tri-color requires an extra color and an extra step, so you would have more paint material and more labor, then $300.00 would be very fair to paint the rear bumper cover. The shop will have over $150.00 in paint at cost before any markup.
