Auto body repair & detailing: 2006 ACURA MDX BODY REPAIR, 2006 acura mdx, acura mdx

Question
My MDX suffered serious collision damage to both right side doors and the large "Outer Panel"/rear quarter panel on the right side. Two collision repair facilities have provided similar repair estimates, but differ over where they would "section"/cut in the damaged quarter panel using just a portion of a complete, new outer panel purchased from Acura.  QUESTION: How can I determine where the damaged outer panel should be cut and replaced with some or all of the new outer panel (Acura P/N 04636SVA80ZZ priced at $635.25) so I can select the better repair facility?  In other words, are there certain points where such
"sectioning" repairs involving the outer panel should be done?  Is the entire "Outer Panel" ever removed and replaced with the new one?  Neither collision repair facility recommends using the entire new panel as it is welded along the roof seam / all around...though they may have other reasons I'm unaware of.  Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.

Answer
We never want to go to the roof with a new quarter. It should always be sectioned somewhere in the sail panel, just above the top of the quarter to below the roof seem. It is virtually  impossible to duplicate the roof seem. The quarter is usually welded underneath the roof so you would ruin the roof if you tried to put the whole thing in. If these guys know what they are doing, and they probably do, give them a chance. It's a simple job for someone with some experience. As to the exact place where they will make the splice, it's a matter of preference.
