Auto body repair & detailing: kids team magnets left marks on car, jeep cherokee, quality wax

Question
Hello William-  Looks like you are the online auto-body man with the plan!  Kudos to you for such high marks on being a kind expert!  Here is my problem-  I proudly displayed my children's sports team magnets on the back of my 9 year old Jeep Cherokee for 8-10 weeks.  I didn't notice the damage that was happening during that period when I washed the car for some reason...?  Nonetheless, the spots are there and I don't know what to do.  I thought about waxing with repair type wax, then buffing with an orbital buffer..., but figured I should check with an expert first since I'm a novice.  Any advise would be most appreciated.  Thank you!

Answer
Cynthia, I suggest having it professionally buffed. The damage is probably from dirt getting under the magnetic banners. An orbital might work, but you need good old rubbing compound. Those colored polishes are a gimmick- they only look good, if ever, for a short time. Follow up with a quality wax. Thanks for the nice comments, sometimes folks forget I do this for free. Bill
