Auto body repair & detailing: power window wont work, mercury mountaineer, pain in the butt

Question
My son has a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer and the driver's side power window is stuck down.  We leave for vacation on Friday the 17th (he can stick it in his dad's garage, but it takes him a half hour to get there). Is there a way to get the window up until he can replace the motor, if it is the motor...it makes a sound when you push the button down, but no sound when you push the button up.  Any help would be greatly apprecieated!

Answer
You need to just break down, and have the window fixed. There's no easy way to just put the window up, it's really a pain in the butt. It might need an entire reguator assembly, but usually when those go, the motor will still run. The window will also slise freely up, at least partially, if the regulator itself is broken. Sorry, no easy fix here. Bill
