Auto body repair & detailing: Auto Body Work, broken bolts, rusty bolts

Question
i have a 1976 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe 1/2 ton. My question is how do i remove the fenders, and are the hood hinges attached to the fenders themselves? It looks to me like they are but i cant really tell. thanks.

Answer
The hinges are attached to the fenders. The fenders are made of 2 parts, an inner and outer, that are welded together. First, remove the hood. Remove the front bumper. Remove the bumper filler panel. Remove the bolts holding in the wheel houses. Remove bolts in the bottom of the fenders, they bolt on from the back side, you may have to remove a plastic shield to access the bolt. Remove the bolts in the door jambs, then the ones on the cowl, in the hinge attaching area. Then remove the bolts attaching them to the radiator support. Expect rusty bolts, soak everything you can see with penetrating oil, and be prepared to have to grind the heads off of broken bolts in the wheel houses. They sometimes like to break the nut welded in the fender, and will just spin. Bill
