Auto body repair & detailing: I have no idea.., drunken fools, rust problem

Question
Ok, so my goal as a senior in highschool is alot like most highschool guys, have a good sturdy truck or fast car. Well, I have a 1969 Chevrolet C-10 Pickup Truck and it has a nasty rust problem.

The worst part I know of is the peice underneath the driver side door, its incredibly rust-eaten and I'm not, by no means, an expert or even experienced in vehicles or repairs. So I was wondering what I should do about it, its pretty much a project truck for me.

Thanks so much.

Answer
Hello again, Dave. Body repair is miserible, thankless work. You spend your whole life working in car dealerships for people who were once used car salesmen. Insurance companies think that bodymen can work like an octipus on steroids, and what they pay to fix a car reflects that. Everyone steals from you, and you tend to be surrounded by drunken fools. I'm too old to start over- my suggestion to you is to do this as a hobby, and find something  better to spend your college tuition on than becoming a fender pounder. I hate to be so blunt, but you have your whole life ahead of you, and the future of body repair is bleak. I make about 35,000 bucks a year, and it doesn't look like it's gonna get better any time soon. Bill
