Auto body repair & detailing: Clear Coat Peeling Off, honda accord, small portion

Question
I have 98 Honda Accord. Clear Coat is peeling off on the roof and on the hood. Although the paint which is exposed after peeling is intact and no rust there. How can I fix it? Can I remove the entire clear coat and put new clear coat there? How much it would cost? Any solution available in market to stop peeling and fix small portion where it is peeled off?

Answer
Keeping the car out of the weather, primarily the sun, is the only thing you can do to slow this process. The paint is deteriorating from age and weather and is common for cars of that age. The only practical remedy is to have the car repainted. If the car is merely transportation and your only concern is that the car doesn't rust you could try getting a spray can of clear paint and lightly put a couple coats of clear over the area that's peeled. following the instructions on the can is crucial to the drying and curing of the paint. This may make it look a little better and may prevent rust but by no means should be considered my advice for correcting the problem.
