Auto body repair & detailing: 1996 Mustang doors - 2 questions, flat head screwdriver, window lever

Question
1.  The drivers side door needs to be adjusted to hit the striker properly.  Is it acceptable to shim under the door hinge?  What is the proper adjustment technique?
2.  I need to remove the inner door panel to install a new pop up lock rod.  Does the Mustang door panel lift up?  Is it necessary to remove the manual roll up window lever, and how do you remove it?

Answer
Your door is probably out of alignment because the hinges are worn out. open the door up all the way and then grab the far end of the door and lift up on it. If it moves up and down then the hinges are worn out and should be replaced. In order to remove the window roller you'll need to remove the clip on the back side of the handle or it may screw in from the front. If there is no small round cover on the front of the handle that can be removed to expose the screw then it uses a clip on the back of the handle. They make a special tool for removing these but you can usually get it off with a small flat head screwdriver. After removing the window roller handle, there should be a couple screw in or around the arm rest area. After those have been removed you will either need to lift up on the trim panel to remove it or pry it away from the door being careful not to damage it or the retainers that hold it in place. I hope this helps.
