Auto body repair & detailing: 88 Mustang Cowl damage, inner cavity, cowl vent

Question
Hello, I just bought a car the had a bolt on cowl hood, and now I know why most people put hood pins in, because the hood flipped open when going down the highway! It broke the cowl vent plastic piece and tore away the edges of the inner cavity. It chipped the hood, and bent the hinges as well, but it didn't damage the windshield or roof. The car is great otherwise, and I understand that this is fairly common damage for performance style hoods. Does this repair require taking the entire cowl section out and welding in a new piece, or could I get away with simply bending the metal back into shape and getting it repainted, figuring it will be covered by the platic vent piece. I would have a repair shop do it either way. What kind of cost would this entail and would it be worth the cost? Is this a repair that most shops can handle?

Thanks,
Hank

Answer
Hank this is a normal repair any shop should be able to handle it i would have the part replaced, for the time to repair it it would not cost much more to replace it.i would say about $250 to replace and paint it depending where you live some shops are higher or lower depending where you live. about $120 for the hinges and to have them painted.
