Auto body repair & detailing: bad batch of base coat, napa account, paint warranty

Question
I recently was in the process of painting my truck with black omni base/clear, the truck was wet sanded with 400 grit then sealed, while applying the black base coat it was noticed that there was not pigment to the paint, after a gallon of base applied all you could see was the light gray sealer still, I called napa where I bought the paint and they advised that they had received a bad batch of paint from the supplier and would replace the paint for free, whats the best way to re due this disaster? re sand the whole truck again? and would the paint manufacturer be responsible for all the materials used to paint this truck as well? sand paper, tape etc... and to include the long hours of body prep.Any advice would be appreciated.

I am sorry to hear about this disaster! I am sure you had many long hours into prepping this truck. I am glad that NAPA was able to at least make good on the paint warranty. You need to examine the written warranty carefully to determine the extent of their liability however. I am afraid that they are probably only responsible to replace the materials, read it carefully. I believe you also need to get the paint manufacturers rep involved in your area. They should have someone in the field that is a sales representative that handles the NAPA account. That person should have any information available about what to do to ensure the vehicle will hold the paint this time around. I hope you don't have to remove the bad coats. Refinish is not my area of expertise so beware! You really need to get ahold of someone at the manufacturer, NAPA has probably already done their job by replacing the paint. Good Luck!
