Question
Nissan Sentra 1998.On left side of passanger entarance below (dogvleg) there was a small rusted area. When I fully sanded all the rust, it is about one inch diameter hole.I have bought primer, bondo, fibreglass, epoxy resin adhesive, clear coat and dupli colour. Please explain how should I fill and paint to get the same original looking? Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer
Hello Afzal! A hole this small I suggest you fill with Bondo glass, a water proof filler from Bondo corp. The hole is too small to mat and glass shut, and bondo glass is easier to work with. Fill the hole with bondo glass, and rough sand smooth with very coarse sandpaper. Now, apply a thin coat of regular bondo over the repair spot. It sands much easier than bondo glass. Use 80 grit paper to sand, followed by 150 grit. Try to keep the area small. Once smooth, take a red scuff pad and scuff back at least 1 inch beyond repair. Mask off, and apply 6 coats of primer, not too heavy! Let dry. Tarp off car to protect it from overspray. Wet sand primer with 600. Grey scotch panel back at least 6 inches beyond the repair area, and mask up repair area. Mask the quarter like you are going to paint the entire panel, not just the dog leg. Clean entire panel with water, then mineral spirits. Tack off with a tack rag, then following cans spraying directions, apply color until hiding. Blend upward into the dog leg. Let color dry for at least 2 hours, the clear, once again blending up into the leg, and about 2 inches beyond the color. Let dry overnight, and hand rub the blend out with medium duty rubbing compound to remove overspray. A buffer will work best and fastest, though. Bill
