Auto body repair & detailing: Land Rover colour matching, land rover discovery, paint code

Question
My son has a 1990 Land Rover Discovery DTI.
He obtained a 2nd hand door which we have prepared and primed but on checking the DIN plate for the color match it was blank. The paint shop mixed the color from their match chart but a sample shows it to be too light a silver.
How can I obtain the factory color match code.The vehicle no is SALLJGBF7GA456605. Hope you can help.

The dealer can give you the paint code based on the colors available for your model year.If the vehicle is silver more than likely you will have to "blend" into the adjoining panels to achieve an undectable color match.Often the color will have to be tinted to match if you want to just paint the one panel.Also remember that the color will change when the clearcoat is applied.
