Auto body repair & detailing: car door, blazer s10, chevy garage

Question
Hello, the driver side door of my 2000 chevy blazer s10 has dropped and I have to push up on the door while I shut it to get it to close properly.  It looks like one of the hinges has corroded and there is some play there. Is there a way to adjust the door to shut properly?

Answer
Hello Fritz! I've done literally hundreds of these doors. The only way to fix it, is to put in new hinge pins and bushings. Your local chevy garage will have the parts in stock, and it should cost around 70 bucks to fix, parts and labor. I don't really recommend you do this yourself, the hinge spring requires a special compressor to re-install it. You will also probably wind up beating the tar out of the door and jambs if you don't have pin removal and installation tools. The door also has to be supported once the pins are driven out. A good tech can do this job in under an hour, and cause no paint damage. Bill
