Auto body repair & detailing: Buying Online, oem factory, light assembly

Question
Hello,

I have a Honda Civic that is damaged on the drivers side front bumper and fender. I had my mechanic look it over and there are no mechanical problems and he told me that I had to replace the whole bumper and fender. I went to a body shop and have been quoted on this damage but they also included the left light assembly, which only has a few scratches it’s not dented or cracked at all.
My questions are:
Is it ok to ask them not to fix the light?
Do you thing it is ok to buy the parts I need online at a MUCH cheaper price?
If so do I buy Raw, Primer or CAPA certified, and what’s the difference between the three?
Thank you so much,
Theresa

Answer
Yes you can ask them to repair just what you want fixed as long as insurance is not involved. I don't see why they wouldn't let you get your own parts if they don't try another shop. Raw means raw plastic and it is harder to paint and make paint stick. Primer parts are primed parts that are not certified by the insurance industry and don't fit as well as a oem factory part or CAPA witch is certified to meet standards for fit and quality.
