Auto body repair & detailing: Power Windows, chevy caprice, paint supplier

Question
I have a 1992 Chevy Caprice that I am fixing up to sell.  Driver's window is "out of track."  Mechanism lifts and lowers but window doesn't track straight up and down.  I'm handy but hate to pull the upholstery panels off the door to get into repair and find I don't have the necessary parts.  Any advice on how to repair?  Can you do it from the top?  I know it won't be simple but I had to ask.

I also have a 1991 Buick Regal that has three spots on the roof where the paint has flaked off to reveal the steel.  Spots are about the size of a quarter or half dollar coin.  Not rusting yet.  Don't want to spend a lot on it either but what can I do to protect the roof from rusting and maintain some eye appeal? For what it's worth, I live in the Southest.  I appreciate any response you might care to offer.  Thanks.

Answer
Hello,
On the 92 Caprice,  you will have to pull the trim panel to see if you need parts. You should be able to see inside the door to determine what is wrong.  If it has anything to do with the regulator, you will need to replace it.  You will need a rivitor, large rivits, drill, punch, and hammer to remove old regulator.  And you will want to find a regulator, we suggest calling a salvage yard instead of going with a factory part.  If you don't have the tools, we suggest taking your vehicle to a body shop and have them install it.  It may just need a track adjustment, hopefully.  That only takes a socket, usually a 10mm.
On the 91 Regal,  go to your local paint supplier and get some touch up paint for your vehicle.  Scratch the bare areas with a steel wool and clean with alcohol.  Apply the touch up paint to the bare areas.  Also, purchase a spray can of a quality clear.  Spray the clear into the cap and allow to sit for a few minutes.  Applt the clear over the base color.  This will not be an invisible repair but it will keep the rust away.  Your vehicle is  what we call a "peeler".  If you are unhappy with the results, take it to a body shop and have them repair and refinish it.
Thank you and have a nice Holliday!
