Auto body repair & detailing: Honda body rust, autobody shops, body rust

Question
Re my 1987 Honda Accord LX 4-door sedan:  Rust-out is occurring above the wheel well on driver's side rear.  Local autobody shops tell me this cannot be permanently repaired.  Is this true?
Thank you.

Answer
  hi bob,
rust is just about impossible to stop completely, about all you can do is slow it down. about the only way to completely remove it wuld be to replace the quater panel ,but this would be expensive to do. they do make a new product called METAL TO METAL made by EVERCOAT. it is an aluminum base filler ant it seames to work pretty god to hold the rust back for quite a while. you would have to check with your local auto parts store to see if they have it. you can also use a fiberglass base filler , this will also hold it back for a while. regular body filler will not hold back the rust for vary long. sooner or later it will come back, how long it will take is unsure. i hope this might help you out. thanks for writing.
