Auto Glass: Driver window wont go all the way up., Window Regulator

Question
Rav4 2012

Hi Derek,
The drivers side window will go half way up and then go back down.  If I try to hit it up in pulses on the switch I can get it halfway up after than it seems to jam and goes back down.

I took the panel off, The slip / slash nearest to the door lock is in place not broken but there is no set screw in it, just seems to be glued in place on the track and clip.  Can't see the other clip towards the side mirror as it blocked by metal, but it all seems to be on the track.

I guess its the track mechanism?  If so would a glass place be able to replace that?  Would hate going to the dealer they charge close to $200 just to look at it here.  I'm located in central NJ, 08857.

Thanks

Hi Tom ,

I would first have to ask if the door glass has ever been replaced? Has SafeBite been sent out by your insurance company to destroy everything they touch? If it has been replaced by your insurance hackers Call them back and tell them to fix it , if it was Insurance it does not matter if it was last year or 5 years ago they have to warranty it.

If not and it is the original then it could be a number of things all of which can be repaired at any Good Auto glass shop.
If the door glass is not damaged it would not have to be replaced. My guess is that over the last 2 years when we had that sub zero weather for 2 months at a time the window froze and could have damaged the window Regulator when put in the down position.

The Regulator is not as expensive as most others at under 150.00 and the whole job should cost you no more than 250.00 .      If you want to take a ride over to Long Island I would be glad to look at it for you!
