Auto Glass: Passenger Power Window *

Question
Hi Ben
The passenger window on my 2002 Chevy Blazer won't come up, my mechanic friend tested it & it's getting power, we thought it may be the switch, so I got a new one from Auto Zone, but still no help, he concludes that the regulator motor is frozen & there isn't a manual way to crank it up.
Are we right in our assumptions, if so where's the best place to get the motor without going to the expensive dealer.
Thanks !!

Answer
Hello John,

If you found power right at the motor connector then a bad motor would be the most  likely problem.

If all you want to do is get the window up, you can drill or grind off the heads of the three rivets that hold the motor to the regulator and the window can easily be raised manually.

If you choose to replace the motor you can find a new motor at  most auto parts stores.  I recommend the Dorman brand.  Be sure not to buy a re-manufactured motor.

Installing the new motor is more difficult than removing the old one.  If you decide to do that please send me a follow up question for more details.
