QuestionI have a rather old car, but I hate how hot it gets in the summer time and would like to assume that if I got the windows tinted a little it would be a lot cooler inside. Problems being I don't want it to be more difficult to see at night and I don't want to spend a lot because my car is old and for all I know tints aren't transferable? lol. What is there to know about tints? My second car was tinted, but it was tinted beyond the legal limit when I purchased it so I had to have it removed completely. That is also a concern of mine.

I do not do tinting at all. I have someone in the shop do it.
In the 34 Years I have been doing glass I have only tinted one window by myself! It did not come out perfect so I said frig this tinting it is way to much aggravation for me and never did another window again.
Having said that, I do know that if you have Clear Glass windows in your older car now, any tint you put on them will help reduce the heat inside the car.
Tint is measured by the percentage of light that passes through it! 5% 25% 35% and so on. The lower the percentage number the Darker it is.
Tint keeps the car cooler in the summer just by itself and also helps the air conditioner run less to cool the car so you save on coolant and gas. Tinting is a film that is glued on to the glass and No!, it is not Transferable. =D
You did not tell me where you lived but the Legal limit laws for window tinting are not the same for every state.
