Auto Glass: 1998 CRV window vibration after lubrication, silicone lubricant, honda crv

Question
Hi Ben
I have a Honda CRV 1998 model.  The windows were all sticking and slow. There was a very slight greening of the rubber.  I read in many forums about applying silicone lubrication, so that is what I did.  Immediately the window started vibrating badly when in use, particularly when descending.  My initial thoughts are that I have disrupted the grip of the rubber guides that held the window straight, but really I have no idea..

Any help you can offer would be appreciated

Thanks

Stephen

Answer
Hi Stephen,

I have seen this happen before.  It is really hard to say exactly what is causing the vibration.

I suggest you start by wrapping a rag around the end of a medium sized phillips screwdriver, apply the silicone lubricant to the rag, completely lower the glass, and then clean the rubber guides ("run channels") with the lubricated rag.

If that doesn't solve your problem, you will need to remove the door panel and clean & lubricate the rubber guides ("run channels") inside the door.  You may also need to lubricate the window regulator plate where it slides up and down on the regulator vertical rail.

Feel free to send a follow up question if I can help in any other way.
