Auto Glass: 2001 Aurora Power window issues, body control module, electronic controller

Question
We have a 2001 Aurora 4.0 and are having problems with the driver's side windows and everything else over there. The window switches don't work at all, meaning we can't control the driver's side window, or the other windows from that side, though the rear windows will go down if you use their switches. The passenger side worked for awhile, but now the window went down and won't go back up, though the power lock works on that side and locks the whole car. Now back to the driver side; so the window switches don't work and neither do the switches to open the trunk, gas door thingie or the door locks. Basically the only thing the door is good for is opening and closing!

Answer
Hello Kim,

Your power window mechanism are probably fine.  Your problem is most likely a wiring problem or a body control module problem (small solid state electronic controller).  You need the services of someone who routinely does vehicle electrical repairs.  If your mechanic doesn't have lots of experience in this area he could waste a lot of time looking for the problem.  Best to find someone who does it all the time.
