I have a 98 celica gt convertible.  The driver side quarter window will open but not close.  What is the likely cause?

Hi Dan,

I don't see this problem very often since there are so few Celica convertibles out there.  When I have had the opportunity to work on them, the problem has most often been a faulty window switch.  Replacement of the switch is fairly simple, but you need to confirm that is what is wrong first.  Most dealers won't allow you to return the new switch if you discover something else is wrong.  If you don't have the electrical trouble-shooting skills to diagnose the problem, any decent mechanic should be able to handle this problem in 30 - 40 minutes.
