Hello Rob,

If the motor runs continuously as long as you hold the switch button, but the glass doesn't move up or down, the problem is usually broken "gear cushions" inside the head of the motor. You can confirm this diagnosis by having someone else hold the switch.  If you can move the glass up or down while the other person presses the switch, it is very likely that broken "gear cushions" are the cause.

Gear cushions are replaceable, but it requires the removal of the window motor from inside the door.  To see what a gear cushion looks like, go to dormanproducts.com and input "74409" and "74410" into the part number search box.  You can get these parts at most any auto parts store.  They probably will be able to help you with installation information as well.

Another option, is to replace the complete motor.  That would be a bit more expensive, but a lot less labor.
